NFL Europe is dead

The NFL today canned the NFL Europe League. The last remaining part of what has been such a large part of life for so many has been removed. Combined with the loss of First Down in the UK, this has been a terrible week for European football fans.

Dante Hall traded to St Louis Rams

In a surprising move prior to the 2007 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs traded star kick returned, and former Scottish Claymore, Dante Hall across Missouri to the St Louis Rams in return for a fifth round pick (Kansas selected Kolby Smith, RB from Louisville). Full story from ESPN.com

Six inducted into Hall of Fame including Couper and Hart

Scott Couper and Rob Hart lead the six former Scottish Claymores players inducted into the team's Hall of Fame. They join fellow Brits Scott McCready and Robert Flickinger along with Craig Nall and Chris Ward into the Hall. From the non-playing staff, General Manager Steve Livingstone is an honorary inductee.

World Bowl '96 10th Anniversary Weekend

The Claymores Hall of Fame is open for voting for it's final set of inductees. Players from all years are eligible for the ballot but the selection committee has limited this to 18 candidates. World Bowl '96 10th Anniversary Events

23rd June 2006 marks 10 years to the day of the Claymores winning their only World Bowl. TouchdownClaymores.com and the Scottish Gridiron Association are planning a series of events for football fans centred around that weekend. All events will be based in Edinburgh just like World Bowl '96. Plans are at an early stage right now but over the coming months further details will be announced as they become available. The big man has been in touch - he releases his new CD at the end of this month and is keen to maximise publicity for his new site. It must be a tough life being a top pro footballer with the Eagles and record producer on the side! With NFL Europe being played out across the Channel without UK involvement, only a handful of Claymores fans will trek out to watch live games. The rest of us will be without our regular 11 week fix of football for the first time in 10 years.
